Few wine regions are more noble to the Hungarian wine industry than Serem. Learning about the history of the place reveals a forgotten world to everyone. The territory of Sirmium was already a prosperous province of ancient Rome, and Sirmium was part of the province of Pannonia. It was here that the Roman emperor Probus first allowed grapes to be grown outside Italy. In the Middle Ages, Sirmium was one of the most important wine and grape-growing areas of our country, and the county of Sirmium and its wines were known throughout Europe. Wine from here went straight to the tables of kings.

Amikor először érkeztünk meg Szerémségre, és megláttuk a dülőket egyből  megéreztük a hely szellemét. Hosszú idő telt el az első szőlőtőke elültetése óta, de végül megtörtént a csoda.” Valahogy így indult a DUKAY borászat története. A dűlőinken és borászatunkban egyaránt találkozik a múlt, a hagyományok tisztelete a modern borászat kihívásaival. Az építkezés és a szorgalom meghozta a gyümölcsét, hiszen elkészültek a DUKAY Winery borai, amelyek mostmár a borszerető közönség számára is elérhetőek. A szerémi borvidék történelme kiváló alapot nyújt, hogy a lehető legjobbat hozzuk ki magunkból és a borainkból. A szorgalom mellett szükség volt az elfeledett királyi borvidéknek és borászatunknak egy szakértőre, Kúcs Gyula személyében, aki gondosan felügyeli a szőlőtőkéket, ott van a borkészítés minden mozzanatánál. Küldetésünk, hogy ezt a csodás vidéket és a szőlőit megismertessük újra a közönséggel és mindenki megtapasztalja azt, amit mi éreztünk, amikor először álltunk az üres dűlőkön.

2007

"The first time we saw the Sérémie and its vineyards, we felt the spirit of the place. We knew it was a place worth building a future."

2009

THE FIRST VINES

After two years of farming, we planted the first vines. We started on a long journey and needed patience and diligence.

2010-es évek

Improving the wines

We started producing, bottling and selling the wines. The period of experimentation and fine-tuning began.

2020

The emergence of the winemaker

In addition to diligence, the forgotten royal wine region and our winery needed an expert. Gyula Kúcs is the perfect choice for this role.

2022

Creating the Dukay brand

We took it to a higher level and wanted to present the best quality in terms of presentation, alongside our high quality wines. We created the DUKAY brand.

DUKAY comes to life

We introduced ourselves to the public. It's been a long road, but we've come a long way and our wines have shown us that it takes long, humble work to create. We are proud of our wines and want everyone to enjoy a glass of Dukay wine.

Just like our winegrowing brethren in Sicily, we haven’t had multiple centuries to study the intricacies of our terroir—the sense of place created by the interaction of soils, climate, and topography.

Since 1973, we have been determining the best way to grow incredible grapes here, and we are continually refining our vineyard as our knowledge and experience grow.
